Firefighter’s Prayer and Policeman’s Prayer Products from FireAwards.com

We have made wonderful additions to our Firefighter Prayer and Policeman Prayer line of gifts during the past few weeks. Beautiful presentations of these time honored verses can be found in the Fireman’s Prayer Gifts and Awards section of our Fireman’s Pride Line and also in the Policeman’s Prayer Awards And Gifts section.

Fireman's Prayer Photo Frame

The most popular and also an economical gift for any firefighter or firefighters family is the Fireman’s Prayer Photo Frame which will accept your own 4″ x 6″ photo to complete a framed tasteful presentation. A similar item featuring the Policeman’s Prayer is also available.

The Firefighter’s Prayer is a sentimental verse written by an unknown author, and has been around for many years. While many attempts have been made at authoring similar prayers, the original in our opinion is the best. Be sure to check out all of our Firefighter Prayer and Policeman Prayer gifts and use code IU2SAVE5 at checkout for a 5% discount from your order.

FireAwards Offers 3 New Commemorative 911 Tee Shirts

As most Americans know, 2011 marks the ten year anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York, and The Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Almost 3000 lost their lives in the attack, with many more to follow due to illness derived from exposure to dust from the collapse of the Towers. FireAwards.com is currently offering 3 Firefighter T Shirts in remembrance of those who gave so much. The Brotherhood Fallen Brothers Firefighter T-Shirt, 911 10 Year Commemoration Shirt – United We Stand, and the Firefighter 911 High Honor Tribute T Shirt were all tastefully designed for you to show your respect and memory for the men and women we have lost.

They would make wonderful and thoughtful gifts for not only firefighters, but anyone who would like to tribute our fallen brothers.

Is Memorial Day Really A Holiday?

Open the pool, fire-up the grill, it’s a three day weekend with a parade, the unofficial start of summer!

I wonder how many parents will take the time to explain to their children what Memorial Day is all about. For that matter, I wonder how many Adult Americans understand why we have a Memorial Day in this country.

Memorial Day Remberance Wreath

Simply put, Memorial Day, which was originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died and sacrificed, in our nation’s service. Unfortunately, when Congress made Memorial day into a mandatory three-day weekend with the National Holiday Act of 1971 (P.L. 90 – 363), it made it all the easier for us to be distracted from the spirit and meaning of the day. To help gain some of the meaning back, The “National Moment of Remembrance” resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. local time, for all Americans “To voluntarily and informally observe in their own way a Moment of remembrance and respect, pausing from whatever they are doing for a moment of silence or listening to ‘Taps.”

So is Memorial Day a holiday? Actually it’s a day to reflect and remember those who have died for our freedom. So if you ask me, all of the other days in the year are “holidays” thanks to the men and women who gave it all for us.
